Overview
VedicChart provides a free Vedic astrology calculation service: you enter a birth date, birth time, and birthplace, and we return a sidereal chart (Lagna, Moon sign, Nakshatra, planetary positions, houses, Vimshottari Dasha, and Navamsa/D9). This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved, why it is processed, how long it is kept, and who handles it.
For the purpose of data-protection law, VedicChart is the controller for the website and its calculation proxy. The email for privacy questions, access or deletion requests, and general contact is support@vedicchart.net. We aim to reply within 5 business days, often sooner.
We ask for as little as possible, use it only to produce the chart you requested, and avoid building a personal data inventory around it. The calculator does not need your name, phone number, government ID, or payment details to work.
2 — What we process
What information is involved
Whether and how much data is processed depends on what you do on the site:
We do not ask for your legal name, address, or financial information to calculate a chart. If you include personal details in an email, we handle that message only to reply and to resolve the issue you raised.
3 — Purposes & legal bases
Why we process it
Each category above is used only for a matching, limited purpose:
- Birth details — to convert your local birth time to UTC, calculate sidereal positions with the Lahiri correction, place planets in whole-sign houses, determine Nakshatra/pada, Vimshottari Dasha balance, and Navamsa, and return the chart you asked for. The service cannot return a correct chart without this input. Legal basis: performance of the service you request (contract / legitimate interest in delivering the chart as described).
- Place search input — to resolve the birthplace you intended and supply accurate coordinates and historical time-zone rules. Legal basis: same as above — it is a necessary step of the calculation.
- Technical delivery data — to route traffic, keep the site available, and protect against abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating and securing the service.
- Emails you send — to read, respond to, and (where appropriate) document the handling of your inquiry. Legal basis: consent implied by writing to us, and legitimate interest in support.
We do not use birth details for advertising, resale, building a personal profile across sites, or scoring. If any future feature would change that, we would update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before enabling it.
4 — How a chart request flows
How a chart is calculated
Understanding the flow helps you see where data is touched and where it stops. Here is what happens after you click calculate:
- You choose a birthplace — we match your selection to its coordinates and historical time-zone record so the correct local rules can be applied.
- You submit the form — birth date, exact local time, and the selected place are sent securely for calculation.
- We resolve the exact moment — including historical time-zone rules, daylight-saving transitions, and conversion to a universal time reference.
- Positions are placed in the sidereal zodiac — astronomical positions are adjusted with the Lahiri correction, arranged in whole-sign houses, with the true lunar node and derived charts (D1, D9, Dasha) added.
- The chart is returned to your browser only — we do not save it as a long-term personal record. See Retention below for the limited technical logs any hosting service keeps.
The short reading shown after calculation is a rule-based summary drawn strictly from the same chart — it does not add personal guesses beyond the calculated positions.
5 — Storage & retention
How long data is kept
- Chart requests and results — not stored as a user-accessible history or account record. The service does not create a chart archive you can re-open later under a login. Chart responses carry cache-control that tells the application and any intermediate application cache not to keep them.
- Intentionally not written to app logs — the application is designed not to log raw birth request bodies.
- What may still exist elsewhere — our hosting service may retain standard operational logs — for example access logs and security events — for a limited window under its own retention policy. Those logs are not curated by VedicChart as a birth-data store, but they may contain technical request metadata as part of normal operation.
- Emails — kept only as long as needed to handle your request and, where there is a legitimate reason (for example a billing or support dispute that was resolved by email), for a reasonable follow-up period. You may ask us to delete a thread you sent.
- Place records — birthplace candidates come from a curated database of public geographic records; these are general place facts, not personal data about you, and are not tied to an account (there is none).
6 — Service providers
Who processes data on our behalf
VedicChart is a small, focused service. A few trusted service providers handle the hosting, calculation, and geographic data needed to deliver it. They process data only to provide that infrastructure, under their own published policies:
Place records themselves originate from public geographic datasets (such as GeoNames) — they are place facts, not personal data. We do not sell data to, or share birth details with, advertising networks or data brokers. If we add analytics, payments, or optional saved-chart storage, this section and any consent behavior will be updated before those features are enabled.
8 — Security
How we protect the service
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic between your browser and the service.
- Server-side access control so only the website can call the calculation service — credentials are never exposed to the browser or stored in public code.
- Standard web security protections on site responses to reduce misuse.
- Minimal collection: the most effective privacy control is not collecting excess data in the first place — which is why chart results are not saved as a personal history.
No internet service can promise absolute security. If you believe you have found a vulnerability, please write to support@vedicchart.net with a reproducible description so we can investigate.
9 — International transfers
Where data is processed
VedicChart is available on the public internet, so a request initiated in one country may be processed in another as part of normal routing and hosting. Infrastructure providers may operate data centers in more than one region. We rely on their contractual and legal safeguards for any such transfer. If your jurisdiction requires additional disclosure about transfer mechanisms, please contact us and we will provide the relevant provider documentation and the location of the region currently hosting the workload.
10 — Your rights
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We honor them regardless of region:
- Use the site without submitting birth details — you can read educational pages, comparison articles, and guides without entering anything into the calculator.
- Access and correction — because we do not keep a per-account chart archive, there is usually no stored history to correct. If you emailed us, you may ask what we have retained about that thread.
- Deletion — ask us to delete an email thread or any support record we hold about your message.
- Object or restrict — tell us if you object to a particular processing purpose; we will assess and, where appropriate, stop or limit it.
- Portability — where applicable, we can provide the content of an email exchange you sent in a common format.
To exercise any of these, write to support@vedicchart.net from the address you used (if any) and describe the request and the message it relates to. We may ask for confirmation that you control that address before acting. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
If you do not want birth details sent to the calculation service at all, do not submit the form. That is the most direct way to avoid processing — and it is why every reading, guide, and calculator preview is available without doing so.
11 — Children
Children's privacy
VedicChart is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them beyond the normal technical logs any web host creates for any visitor. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, please contact support@vedicchart.net and we will delete the relevant message.
12 — Changes to this policy
Updates
If we introduce analytics, payments, saved charts, accounts, or any new service provider that handles personal data, we will update this Privacy Policy and change the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes we will give more prominent notice on the site for a reasonable period. Continued use of the site after an update means you have accepted the revised policy.

If your message relates to a specific calculation attempt, include the date, time, and the fact that it was a VedicChart request — but do not resend sensitive identifiers you do not want repeated by email unless that is necessary to resolve the issue.

FAQ
Privacy FAQ
Do you store my birth chart after I calculate it?
No. Your chart is calculated on request and returned to your browser. We do not create an account, do not save completed charts, and do not keep a history of your submissions tied to an identity. The response is marked private and is not saved for later browsing. Standard hosting logs may still exist for a short time (see Service providers), but we do not intentionally keep your birth details.
Do I need to create an account to use VedicChart?
No account is required. The calculator, Nakshatra, Sade Sati, Dasha, and Navamsa tools work without sign-up. That is intentional — it keeps data collection minimal. If we ever add optional saved charts or accounts, this policy and any consent controls will be updated before those features go live.
What cookies or tracking do you use?
The current calculator does not require advertising or analytics cookies. There is no ad network cookie and no cross-site tracker needed to calculate a chart. If analytics or payment features are introduced later, we will update this policy and add consent handling before enabling them.
